Support One Another in Love in Christ

Giving Without Limits – A Letter from a Disciple-Maker Serving in Latin America

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Every one of us has heard this verse:

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” - Acts 20:35

Most of the time we use this verse because we want to receive something from someone. Rarely does it bring to mind our brothers and sisters on the other side of the globe, in the Middle East, the underground church. Where they are giving everything for Christ, for a greater goal, that every language, tribe, and tongue would bow down to the King of kings and Lord of Lords. We are one body in Christ, we cannot abandon them without support.

I urge you to donate and cooperate in the great commission, if they can give everything, we can sacrifice a cup of coffee, a snack, or something that we enjoy and be part of what God is doing.

We are one body in Christ, so we are called to support one another in love. We can be part of what God is doing around the world through giving. We may not travel to the other side of the world, but we can send our money. We have the privilege to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Do not waste your life on things that are fading away.

It is not enough only to give money, but also to get involved in what God is doing around the world. What He wants us to do, what we need to sacrifice, and what is in the heart of the Creator.

David vs. Saul

We can see in the Bible two men, Saul, and David. God had a great plan for both, but Saul tried to walk by himself not depending on God. We try many times as Saul to get the things by ourselves or on our own, not trusting in the promises. We cannot control everything around us, but we can trust the Lord in everything. Saul was chosen for a purpose, and the call was great, he was going to be the first King of Israel, but what was in the heart of Saul?

The desire of Israel’s people was to be like the other countries around them, one of those things was having a king. Like them many times, we as Christians are trying to be like the others around us but God is often headed the opposite direction than the world. Saul was trying to be part of that, and he was focusing on people’s opinion and not the only opinion that mattered, God’s opinion.

The Israelites were seeking to fit in the culture around them. Often times, we easily judge them, without looking at what is in our hearts first.

What is our mission? Where are we going? What is the purpose of our lives? What do we really want? The mission of our lives is to be like Christ, looking and searching the business of the Father, or at least that must be.

Eternity

There are things in our daily life that take our attention from what really matters. We are living through a challenging time, because there are many things that are fighting for our attention, for our devotion and love, we have an enemy that is roaring like a lion, but we have a helper to endure through the trials, the Holy Spirit. We must focus on the eternal things, there is no time to waste and the decisions that we take today are going to affect eternity.

Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. - Matthew 18:18
