Excellence

A Spirit of Excellence

Excellence in all Things

Here at GCM we value excellence in all things. Whether it’s through our media and creative pursuits, our mercy ministry and relief opportunities, or our disciple making and team building on the ground we seek excellence at every stage. This comes only by the power of the Spirit. On our own we would never have the creativity, discernment, wisdom, and motivation to accomplish each exploit. By relying on the Holy Spirit we execute each task set before us to the best of our ability. In fact, one of our vision statements explains that we always bring our best through the power of the Spirit. To be set apart with integrity honors God and inspires people.

Please God

There is no question that this excellence pleases God. Biblically we see countless examples of those who lived this message out, from the artists contributing to the Tabernacle to Daniel catching the eye of the King for his excellent stewardship. In addition, there are countless calls to this that we see throughout Scripture. Colossians 3:23 says that whatever we do we must work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.

If we are first and foremost working for God don’t we then want to produce the best work we are possibly capable of- be it a tangible work or a labor of energy, creativity or love? Proverbs is a book full of pushing us towards bringing our best work and warnings for those who don’t. Ephesians also spurs us on to render service with a goodwill as unto God and not to men. Clearly, excellence is both pleasing to and required by God.

Inspire Others

Additionally, we know that bringing our best with integrity inspires people. When we see others giving their best efforts unto the Lord it inspires us to do the same. When those in ministry and missions work give themselves wholeheartedly, withholding nothing we are forced to confront our own half hearted effort. We believe at GCM that by fully committing with integrity and excellence to each exploit the Lord gives us those who witness it will be inspired and encouraged to give either best as well. This results in an encouragement to the whole body of Christ worldwide to give their best to the individual work to which God has called them.

For His Glory

At GCM we value excellence for one reason- God does. Far be it from us to do what God has called us to do with any less than what He has put inside of each of us powerfully to will and to work for His glory. We believe that when we bring our best we make room for the Holy Spirit to make our highest efforts more than we ever could have made them ourselves.

May it never be said of us, or of you, what was said of King Amaziah in 2 Chronicles: He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly. He followed the rules and checked all the boxes but his heart wasn’t in it. May we always be a people who give God our wholehearted effort at every turn, for His glory.
